Good Night Moon

Last night as I was lying in bed, I heard the moon calling for me. I quietly tiptoed from my room, down the hall and outside. I was hoping the warm Arizona night would calm my shivers, helping me to relax so I could settle in for the night. The night was so quiet and peaceful- a feeling I was so desperately wanting for myself. I admired the shadows surrounding me, hoping to feel their actual embrace so I wouldn't feel so alone. I looked for twinkling stars dancing in the night, and couldn't find one to form a wish on. I was alone with the moon and realized that I needed the moon, and the moon needed me.

When the MyMy was a little girl and a full moon was out, I would show her the moon and recite the children's verse.

I see the moon, the moon sees me.
God bless the moon, and God bless me.

Somehow, the verse brought comfort to my heart. It made me realize how blessed I am, and that I am loved. I could only stay outside in the Arizona heat for 20 minutes or so. The heat didn't calm my shivers, it just made me sweat. I did however sit in a comfy chair gazing at the moon through a window inside my air conditioned home, and that in itself was somewhat magical. After awhile the call to slumber finally came and I was able to quietly tiptoe back down the hall and crawl into bed relaxed and sleepy.

Good night moon. I look forward to our next visit.
